LIP VOLUME

Understanding lip structure helps explain age-related facial changes.

What Affects Lip Volume?

The lips are composed of delicate soft tissue that naturally changes over time due to the ageing process. As we age, lip tissue experiences gradual volume reduction, which can affect the overall balance and symmetry of facial features. These changes occur as part of normal facial development and are influenced by factors such as genetics, sun exposure, and natural collagen reduction.

The upper and lower lips work together to create facial proportion, and their natural structure contributes to overall facial harmony. Understanding how lip anatomy changes with age is important when assessing facial aesthetics. During consultation, we can discuss these natural processes and provide information about the various factors that influence lip appearance over time.

Lip Volume & Definition:

Are You an Ideal Candidate?

A consultation may be appropriate for adults who would like to discuss changes in lip volume, shape or definition with an experienced Registered Nurse practitioner.

Lip appearance differs between individuals and can change over time. During your consultation, your Registered Nurse practitioner will discuss your concerns, relevant medical history and the reasons you are considering treatment. They will assess whether treatment may be clinically appropriate and explain the available options, limitations, risks, aftercare requirements and expected recovery.

You may be suitable to arrange a consultation if you:

  • Are aged 18 years or over
  • Would like to discuss age-related changes to lip volume or definition
  • Are in suitable general health and able to provide informed consent
  • Have realistic expectations and understand that results vary between individuals
  • Are willing to discuss your medical history, medications, allergies, previous treatments and any relevant medical conditions
  • Are prepared to consider the potential risks, limitations, costs, aftercare and alternatives before making a decision

A consultation does not mean that treatment will be recommended or performed. Your Registered Nurse practitioner may recommend an alternative approach, defer treatment, recommend no treatment, or advise that further medical assessment is required.

Treatment may not be appropriate for everyone or at every time. For example, it may be deferred where there is an active skin or lip infection, certain health conditions, particular medications, pregnancy or breastfeeding, or where treatment is not considered to be in your best interests.

There is no obligation to proceed following consultation. You are encouraged to take time to consider the information provided and seek a second opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner if desired.

Important: All cosmetic procedures carry risks. Your practitioner will discuss the risks that may be relevant to you, including swelling, bruising, discomfort, infection, vascular complications and the possibility of needing further treatment. Individual outcomes vary and cannot be guaranteed.

FAQs

TGA regulations prevent us from publishing pricing on our website. We invite you to book a consultation to determine your suitability for this treatment, at which time we can provide personalised guidance and discuss fees in detail.

All patients seeking lip enhancement must have a consultation with our cosmetic nurses prior to consenting to the procedure, this can either be in-person or by video. In this consultation we will discuss your the results you’re trying to achieve and your reasons for seeking this procedure. Please note that our nurses and practitioners are required by regulations to refuse to consent to a procedure if they believe it is not in the best interests of the patient.

If you are under the age of 18 years, please contact us directly to discuss your consultation process as it will differ to the process for adult patients.

Due to the sensitivity of the lip area, swelling is common and bruising may be a concern for some patients.

Results can be seen right away and will soften as the swelling reduces.
