Associate Professor Michael Stapelberg is a specialist General Practitioner with focused expertise in
dermatology, skin cancer medicine, and aesthetic medicine. Beyond his clinical work, he serves as a
Medical Advisor for Clarius ultrasound, contributing to innovations in point-of-care facial
anatomical imaging for aesthetic medicine. He is an Adjunct Associate Professor at Southern Cross
University’s School of Health Sciences investigating skin cancer prevalence, and is fully accredited
with the Skin Cancer College of Australasia (SCCA).

Associate Professor Michael Stapelberg is an extensively qualified clinician-scientist who holds a medical degree from Griffith University and a specialist Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) as a rural generalist.

His clinical mastery is further distinguished by a two-year Fellowship in Aesthetic Medicine from the Australasian College of Cosmetic Surgery and Medicine (ACCSM), complemented by a Master of Science and Postgraduate Diploma in Practical Dermatology from Cardiff University. Additionally, he holds Advanced Clinical Certificates in Skin Cancer Medicine, Surgery, and Dermoscopy from the SCCA.

Academically, A/Prof Stapelberg achieved First Class Honours in Anatomy before earning a PhD in Dermatology from the University of Sydney, where he investigated the effects of UV radiation on the skin.

He is currently undertaking a second PhD at the University of Queensland, focusing on facial anatomy, facial ageing, and ultrasound-guided precision in aesthetic medicine. As a researcher, he has authored over 26 peer-reviewed publications in international medical journals and is a frequent presenter at global conferences.
